Why are people so amused when people from the San Francisco area call San Francisco 'The City'? I'm around Philadelphia, and I always call it 'The City'. Jus' wondering...
When I lived near London I often referred to it as "the city" since, well, it was the biggest city nearby! I don't do it with Manc, but then I live inside the limits...
